ST MABYN GARDEN CLUB

Sandra Goodswen, our speaker for March, gave a very interesting talk with slides on The Saint’s Way, a 27 mile ancient trackway that cuts right cross Cornwall from Padstow to Fowey. It only came to light in 1984 when some local ramblers found a series of forgotten ancient stiles. Ancient Celtic traders are thought to be the first users of this footpath. There are many historic remains to be discovered along this trail and if you are willing to wander slightly of the track you will find little churches and other intersting artifacts from Cornwall’s mysterious past. I must not forget to mention the marvellous scenery and wild flowers. After a very appreciative round of applause from the assembled members tea and biscuits were served.
The Garden Club Annual General is to be held on Wednesday 13 April, 7.30 pm St Mabyn Village Hall. Membership is still only £5 for the year .Colin Hyde will be giving us an illustrated talk on his recent trip to New Zealand. Should be very interesting .
For our May meeting , Wednesday 11th, Adrian Langdon will be giving us his illustrated talk on The Camel Estuary.

Don’t forget our Spring Outing on Wednesday 18 May. This year we are going to the National Trust property Arlington Court, near Barnstaple, North Devon. Coach leaves the St Mabyn bus stop at 9.30 am.
