Festival of Village talent
THE enterprising, talented and energetic villagers of St Mabyn in North Cornwall are inviting you to visit their village over four days to celebrate their Village Festival from Thursday 15th August to 18th August. Most of the fun and entertainment centres on the beautiful 15th Century church – arguably the highest parish church tower in Cornwall – and the Village Hall and the Village Post Office.
The village will be decorated with scarecrows and a Garden Safari has been organised. Craft and local art will be prominent and an Antiques Road Show and valuation by renown Richard Hamm is being held in the Post Office so bring your heirlooms for an assessment by an expert. Food will play an important part with cheese and wine at the preview of Festival of Craft, real Cornish cream teas, an American pancake breakfast, BBQ at the Church and, of course, great coffee continually from the Post Office and Stores. Local beers and good food are also available at the village pub , the St Mabyn Inn.
And the village now boasts a real cider farm with top quality cider, apple juice and honey at Haywood Farm.
Music plays an important part in St Mabyn’s life with a performance by harpist Jonathan Moseday; a concert by ‘Proper Job’ and Kamel Kordians’; Mike Haywood’s Disco; Songs of Praise and all rounded off by a superb concert by Cornwall’s favourite singer, entertainer and national star, Johnny Cowling.
Tickets for this show or more information on the festival are available from St Mabyn Post Office or Angie Bunney on 01208 841511 or Carol Grigg on
01208 841276.
Visitors to the Duchy are more than welcome to enjoy this village festival and to experience a slice of the myriad talent hidden in a typical Cornish village.
