St Mabyn School NOT closing.
Dean Ashton, council officer in charge of the department which produced the report, said it had been a huge mistake. Mr Ashton, director of services for children, young people and families, told the meeting: "That data has no status. It has never been taken to the executive and yesterday I ordered that all versions be deleted."
Speaking after the meeting, Mr Ashton stated categorically that no Cornish school was under threat of closure.
one reader commented
"Rather than closing village schools council should use their muscle...if they have any.. to raise council tax on 2nd home owners who are buying up homes but not sending children to schools in the county!..2nd home-owners are not putting anything back into the economy of the county".
