MUSIC IN ST MABYN
Because of heavy rain, for the second consecutive year, Jazz on the Green in St Mabyn became Jazz in St Mabyn Church. However, wet or dry, whether under cover or not, Bodmin College Jazz Orchestra, ages 12-18, never fail to give a stunning performance. Under their Musical Director, Adrian Evans, they played to a very appreciative audience who, determined to enjoy themselves, brought their picnics into Church and had a great time to a programme which included Santana’s ‘Evil Ways’, Duke Ellington, Led Zeppelin, Blues Brothers, Southern Cross, the Beetles and a version of Benny Goodman’s ‘Swing Swing Swing’ with drum and sax solos so powerful that the audience were brought to their feet in a standing ovation. The incredible talent of such young people is quite awesome.
Sadly, this was to be Musical Director Adrian Evans’ last performance in St Mabyn as he is to retire in the very near future.
The concert was organized by The Friends of St Mabyn Church and all proceeds were split between the FOSMC and the Orchestra. Very many thanks to everyone, near and far, who continue to support and enjoy fund-raisers for St Mabyn Church, you are very important and very much appreciated - we couldn’t do without you!
Clips from the concert can be seen on You Tube
