Headteacher's party

PUPILS, parents and other well-wishers who have known a popular local headteacher are invited to a retirement party celebrating her 13 years of service. Mrs Daphne Puttock has led St Mabyn Church of England Primary School between Bodmin and Wadebridge for more than a decade; last December she gave the year’s notice required of head teachers.
Parents, staff and governors of St Mabyn School are organising a leaving party to be held at Lanarth Hotel at St Kew Highway on Thursday, December 17 at 7.30pm.
“Mrs Puttock asked us not to do anything formal,” said Anne-Marie Irons, a parent at who has served in the school’s Home School Association (HSA) for many years. “It’s going to be an informal buffet party with a festive holiday theme.
“I know that Mrs Puttock would be happy to see some of her previous students and their families, so we’d like to encourage them all please to come.”
Guests are requested to bring some party food to contribute to the buffet: pasties, dips, mince pies, cheese and grapes, or anything tasty and seasonal.
Jane McDonald, present chair of the HSA, said: “We hope that even if people can’t come, that they will spread the word among past parents and students. This event is completely separate from the events surrounding the federation of St Mabyn and St Tudy schools; it’s a straightforward retirement party to mark the years that Mrs Puttock has spent as our headteacher.”
If you have any questions, contact HSA secretary Gillian Molesworth on 01208 841 453; people are welcome just to show up on the night. Lanarth Hotel and Caravan Park PL30 3EE is off the A39 between the St Mabyn turning and St Kew Highway . Their number is 01208 841 215.
