Jane McDonald
Inspired by fragments of everyday textiles, and the significant parts of people's lives which become entwined in the use of them. Wedding dresses, darning wool, pinnies, coal smeared miners collars all have stories to tell of the hidden lives they are part of. She also likes the ambiguity of words and the secrets that they keep.
Her work incorporates many textile techniques including felt making, appliqué, machine embroidery, couching, patching and print making. But, it is always stitch which dominates the work - literally binding her ideas together.
Local artist Jane McDonald's beautiful textile work is on display from 5th July 2010 – 1st October 2010 at Trelawny Exhibition, Level 1 Trelawny Wing, Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.
