Village Hall
It's been a case of 'Dance Yourself Dizzy' in St Mabyn recently .... with a dance held in the village hall on Saturday, 22nd September with impeccable organisation by Yvonne and Mike. Spinning the disks (or is that the laptop) by Mike, everyone found a tune to their liking and the dance floor was busy all evening. All genres were covered from disco to salsa and a great night was had by all who attended. The event was held for the benefit of the St Mabyn Play Group and a raffle helped to boost funds further. Plans are in hand for another village dance towards the end of October /early November .
Our second dance event was a Beginners Belly Dance workshop with Laura Brown. Laura has been involved with Arabic Dance for the last five years and following requests for another event after the highly successful 'Bollywood', the ladies of the village were treated to an opportunity to learn some of basics of Raqs Shakri (Bellydance) on Saturday 29th September. With coined belts around their hips, shimmies and hip drops were learnt and put together into a simple choreography using a colourful veil. Watch out for future workshops in this addictive dance style.
Village Hall Committee next meeting Wednesday 17th October 7.30p.m
Village Hall Coffee a.m 12th & 26th October Visitors and holiday makers are very welcome to join us. £1 pp for coffee and biscuits. Average jolly gathering raises £20 towards funds for the upkeep of the hall.
