FRIENDS OF ST MABYN CHURCH

Our 2009 AGM will take place on Thursday May 7th at 6.30 for 7pm in St Mabyn Village Hall, and everyone is welcome to join us for a friendly social occasion with wine and cheese.
The forthcoming Jazz on the Green with Bodmin College Jazz Orchestra will now take place on Saturday 11th July (6.30-9pm.) This will be their last performance of the school year and half the proceeds will go to the Orchestra, which has two years in which to raise the money for their tour of the USA in 2010. The other half will go to The Friends of St Mabyn Church
Also in the pipeline is a Friends' BBQ at Menkee hosted by Liz and Gage Williams and, during the autumn, a Quiz Night will be held in St Mabyn Village Hall. Further details for these events will be published later.

Mebyon Kernow

The Party for Cornwall has announced its list of candidates for the ‘South West Region’ seat in the European Parliament one of whom is Joanie Willett a 32-year-old mother of two, who is originally from St Mabyn.
She is MK’s global affairs spokesperson and is presently completing her PhD.
She was recently involved in the campaign to stop the incineration of rubbish at St Dennis.

10 Tors walk


Sian Flynn, Liz Williams, George Edward-Collins and Gage Wiliams have entered a team in the annual Bodmin 10 Tors walk which takes place on Sunday 10th May. There will be about one hundred teams of four taking part in this extremely well organised annual event.
The team is raising money for an excellent charity, in Cornwall, the Home Farm Trust which provides vital help for people with severe learning disabilities.

Granite & Clay

On Sat 18th and Sun 19th April 10am-4pm there will be an exhibition in the St Breward Village Hall entitled 'Granite & Clay'. The exhibition will show how granite and clay have shaped the life of the moorland village.
The exhibition which is being put on by the St Breward Parish Council will be raising money for CLIC Cancer the UK's leading cancer charity for children and is part of The Camel Trail Event being held on Saturday 18th April.
Go along and have a look at the lovely old photos and stay for a cup of tea and a chat.
